Sources & References
Primary sources behind our educational, wildfire-readiness, and regulatory content.
We use primary public authorities whenever practical. Individual pages should cite important claims where they appear; this page provides a central reference record and does not replace those citations.
Wildfire readiness & public safety
Ready, Set, Go! Program
Publisher: International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)
How YHN uses it: The Ready, Set, Go! framework is adapted to the short-term rental host and guest experience. The framework is not a YHN-created program.
Required attribution: “Adapted for the short-term rental guest experience from the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Ready, Set, Go! Program.”

Grand County wildfire & emergency information
Public authorities and situational-awareness tools referenced on our wildfire pages. During an active incident, evacuation notices and emergency instructions come from local authorities, not from us.
- Grand County — Wildland Fire Mitigation. County mitigation programs and property owner guidance.
- Grand County Wildfire Council. Local wildfire preparedness education and mitigation resources.
- Grand Fire Protection District No. 1. Fire danger levels, fire restrictions and local preparedness information.
- Smart911. Household emergency profile used by participating 911 centers.
- Watch Duty. Wildfire situational awareness. Supplements official instructions rather than replacing them.
- AirNow. Air quality data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and partner agencies.
Disclosure: Sarah Brinkmann and Rodney Layton volunteer with the Grand County Wildfire Council.
Short-term rental regulations
Official county and town sources behind our jurisdiction guides. Requirements change, and the applicable government authority remains the controlling source. Confirm current requirements with the jurisdiction the property sits in before relying on any summary, including ours.
- Grand County — Short-Term Rentals. County permit requirements for properties outside town limits, including the two local emergency contacts.
- Grand County — Municipal Governments. The county’s list of its six incorporated towns.
- Town of Winter Park. Responsible agent requirements for Winter Park short-term rental permits.
- Town of Fraser — Short-Term Rentals. Fraser’s permit process and contact requirement.
- Town of Granby. Granby’s short-term rental permitting is administered by the town.
- Town of Grand Lake. Grand Lake’s short-term rental permitting is administered by the town.
How we handle sources
- Prefer primary authorities over summaries when practical.
- Cite material safety and regulatory claims where they appear.
- Credit frameworks and methodologies we adapt.
- Keep a central source record so references can be reviewed and updated.
- Do not present a citation as evidence of endorsement or partnership.
- Disclose our own involvement with an organization we cite.
